چکیده
Abstract It is observed that the feather surface exhibits anisotropic resistances for streamwise and spanwise flows. To obtain a qualitative understanding about effect of this resistance feature on boundary-layer transitional flow over flat plate, simple phenomenological model established in paper. By means large eddy simulation (LES) with high-order accurate finite difference method, numerical investigations are conducted. The results show hindering formation vortexes, transition from laminar to turbulent can be delayed, turbulence weakened when becomes fully turbulent, which leads significant drag reduction plate. On contrary, renders less stable, earlier enhances region, causing increase Thus, it indicated small achieve reduction. present highlight characteristic near reduction, shed light study bird’s efficient flight.

Influence of Afterbody and Boundary Layer on Cavitating Flow
The characteristics of a cavitation water tunnel test setup and the experiments of cavitation around different models are given in this paper. Models of test are formed from combination of head and variable length afterbody. The experiments are performed initially with the smooth head and then with the roughened head. Cavitation initiates both in the wake and after the head. If the nose of mode...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Control of a Transitional Boundary Layer
We investigate numerically the transition to turbulence in a flat-plate boundary layer controlled by electromagnetic forces. The fluid considered is incompressible, Newtonian and low electrically conductive. Similar to boundary layer suction, when applying a steady, wall-parallel, and streamwise oriented Lorentz force, the Blasius velocity profile is transformed to an exponential one. Since the...
متن کاملNumerical Study On Surface Friction and Boundary Layer Thickening in Transitional Flow
The skin friction on a surface is a major concern by engineers. It is widely accepted that turbulent flow has higher friction than laminar flow due to the higher mixing in boundary layer. However, our new high order DNS found that the high friction is generated in a laminar zone in a transitional flow. Whenever the small length scales are generated, the velocity shear becomes very large in the ...
